Meals

Mealtimes are important to most of us. In care homes they are vital, meeting nutritional needs, providing great enjoyment and acting as a major social focus of the day.
That’s why we employ qualified chefs rather than traditional care home cooks – people who understand the balance between nutritional needs, appetising meals and the social value of dining. It’s also why we seek to make our dining rooms socially focussed with complimentary wine and bottled water with each main meal.
Breakfasts can be anything of your choice from a simple piece of toast up to a full English, served in your room at a time convenient to you. Lunch is the main meal of the day where we always offer at least four choices (meat, fish, salad and vegetarian). But being a small care home, if you don’t like what’s on the menu, just tell us what you’d like and it’s yours.

Naturally we cater for all special diets such as those needed by diabetics and suffers of Coeliac’s disease, as well as those needing to gain weight or lose weight. Being a nursing home we are quite used to liquidising food when it’s necessary.
We source our food locally as far as possible, with meat coming from local farms, bakery products from Bakery Roy-Al in Martock and vegetables from Chalmers in Yeovil.
For our specialist dementia care floor we provide meals and methods of choice suitable for the residents we have with us at any given time.
They say we are what we eat. At Hendford Care Home you eat as you wish.
